On the last weekend in February, I photographed a lovely couple, Umer and Andoria, in Prince George's County Maryland, before their upcoming wedding in March 2012. We shot in late afternoon, between 3 and 5 pm, in bright sunshine and a cloudless sky amongst pedestrians and fishermen.
Umer and Andoria weren't distracted at all. They were totally focused on each other.
What a cool couple! At only 44 degrees that day, it seems they kept each other warm. :)

Nana and her two younger siblings, Morgan and Ethan, said their mother has never had photos of her three children together. This Christmas, they provided their mother with a full album of images which, I heard, brought her to tears. Here are a few of those images that I shot on a cold winter day in December, 2011.

On Saturday, I had the pleasure of photographing April and Rey, married for 7 years. They were a joy to shoot, and it was beautiful to capture the love they had for each other...and for their dog Honey!
Friday, October 21, 2011 - SuiteNation and District of Ciroc held the first District of Ciroc dinner, in a series of dinners intended to celebrate the success of Ciroc in Washington, DC. Promoters, Washington, DC entrepreneurs and celebrity bloggers alike attended the lively dinner, but the night wouldn't be complete without the guest of honor, Ciroc!

On Sunday, October 2nd, I participated in Scott Kelby's 4th Annual Worldwide Photowalk, in Georgetown, Washington, DC. The Worldwide Photowalk is just that--worldwide, where amateur and professional photographers alike in cities as far as Tokyo and Berlin participate in the walk by traveling a predesignated route, on foot, and shooting what they see. That's it. Then when we're done, we upload them to Flickr, where some of the photos are chosen for the walk's best photos. But what's really cool is getting to see the photos of other people, who were in the same location as you, at the exact same time, and the variety of images captured. Here are some of the images I captured during our two-hour walk, which began at 10 am.

Friday, September 23, 2011 - I had the pleasure of shooting one of the week's most memorable Congressional Black Caucus events, honoring the Made For Men initiative - 1,000 Suits For A Second Chance. Made For Men's efforts are designed to assist and nurture under served men in becoming self-sufficient, positive influences in their communities with career counseling and business attire.
This MFM event was a Gentleman's Giving Red Carpet Honoree Reception to thank and honor the donors, acknowledge recipients and encourage a platform for the continued support of MFM's partnership with Career Gear.

What a fantastic show! Can't wait until the next one, I'd see all of these guys again, wherever they perform.

Last night, I had the pleasure of photographing Fashion's Night Out: Georgetown, courtesy of Georgetown's Business Improvement District, or Georgetown BID.
Georgetown Cupcakes offered free Fashion's Night Out red velvet cupcakes all night during the event!
First stop: L2 Lounge VIP/Media Reception. Even the the rain couldn't put a damper on the evening's festivities, and more importantly, the fashion.

Monday, I attended a photography seminar in Philadelphia, within walking distance of the 30th Street station. The all-day seminar ended just before sunset, and on the walk back to the train station to return to DC, I photographed this cool eagle, just out front.

I had the pleasure of photographing siblings and cousin Gianna, Moe and Zoe on one of the hottest days of the summer, at about 99 degrees. Despite the temperature, we had a ton of fun, because the little ladies were pretty lively, packed with personality and young Moe was full of energy. It was as if they couldn't feel the heat! It was a blast to shoot them all, and even more fun to jump into the fountain once the shoot was over!

I took a self-portrait early on Sunday morning. In doing so, I learned:
1. It's really hard to take a good self-portrait.
2. It always helps to pose in the mirror first. There is a mirror on the wall just to the left of where I'm standing in this image. I would pose in it and then turn to my right just before the 10 second timer expired. If I didn't do this, I would have twice as many crappy photos to choose from.
3. It helps tremendously to have something in your place to lock focus so that you can take many photos in succession. A lamp, fan, (a 9-foot paper roll), anything will work.
4. It helps to retouch yourself. And to wear makeup. Even if you're a guy.
5. The wireless camera remote I use for my Nikon D80 is useless on my Nikon D700. Since it's a professional camera, wireless remote transmitters are used instead. $20 vs $200.
Now I know. And knowing is half the battle, right?

Tonight, I tried out my brand new thunder grey backdrop with a wonderful model, Ariana.
I think our job, as photographers, is to make what we do look easy. But this was incredibly challenging with one light source.
Ariana did a great job! She's only 11 years old but needed little to no direction!
She is truly a star in the making. If only every child model could be so cooperative and lively!
